Sam Barthel

My name is Sam, and I’m from the DC area. I’m an Eagle Scout and really good at building fires and doing headstands. I have some secret passions for the Old West and nautical ships. I’ll challenge anyone, but I’m always on their side. I see the world through a narrative lens - it's all a line of aesthetics to me. As the only artist in the family, it was a world of unknown when I started playing music as a kid. I picked up guitar, then I learned to sing. I learned the cello, a bit of bass and keys, but then the stage caught my eye. I tried out for a play and it rocked my world. This started me down the trajectory of language, improv, movement and dance, vocal and dialect work, and even designing. I'm eager to see the world and meet more people, and I hope to share a little of myself everywhere I am.

Scene: A Star is Born

“Child, to say the very thing you really mean, the whole of it, nothing more or less or other than what you really mean; that's the whole art and joy of words." - C.S. Lewis
